Food and drink festivals provide a great chance for local producers to promote all manner of produce to local people.A BITE food market taking place in Chipping Campden's Market Hall.Food & drink festivals have become increasingly popular events across the UK in recent years and the Cotswolds is no exception, with its rich farming heritage and so many great places to host indoor and outdoor festivals.

A few years ago, the Chipping Campden area saw the birth of BITE, which started life as a week-long food festival but has now spread its wings with events across the Cotswolds and beyond.

Two popular food & drink festivals are held in two nearby south Cotswold towns in the early summer. Fairford Food & Drink Festival takes place in Fairford Market Place on a Sunday in May, while Lechlade Food & Drink Festival is held in Lechlade Market Place on a Sunday in June.

Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival, held each year in the town's beautiful Montpellier Gardens, is a celebration of the best cuisine in the Cotswolds and the surrounding regions. Visitors can join celebrity chefs and local chefs and meet over 200 fine food and drink exhibitors, taste speciality real ales, fine wines, and champagne and watch chefs demonstrating their culinary skills. The festival's aim is to showcase the very best of our local and national food producers. The 2015 festival runs from Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14.

Several new food festivals were launched in 2014, includingThere's lots to tempt the tastebuds at Lechlade Food & Drink Festival. The Cotswold Show Food Festival. As a major new attraction for The Cotswold Show, which draws thousands of visitors to Cirencester Park each July, the food festival boasted more than 100 food and drink stands.

Each September, the historic Cotswold town of Tetbury stages a five-day celebration of food and drink when artisans visit with a wide range of food and drink and hotels and restaurants offer the best of local, seasonal produce.

The inaugural Broadway Food Festival took place on the village green on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Sponsored by Cotswold Life magazine, the event featured local artisan producers and cooking demonstrations by local chefs.

The Tetbury Food & Drink Festival, held in September, begins with the now traditional Gloucester Old Spot Sausage Appreciation Society Dinner at The Close Hotel. The festival culminates with a fabulous food and drink market on the Sunday, showcasing artisans, bringing together great produce, samples and tastings.

The 2014 Cotswolds festival calendar ended with another exciting addition in the form of the Cotswold Christmas Food and Drink Festival in the grounds of Gatcombe Park, home of the Princess Royal. For three days from Friday to Sunday, November 28-30, top chefs put their own twists on Christmas classics, while visitors indulged in cheese, wine and chocolate tastings, and find ingredients and Christmas gifts.
