The Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble

This group was established in Cirencester in 1999 by Sandra Dukes, to create an opportunity for classical guitarists to develop their musical skills and perform as an ensemble.

The Ensemble today comprises a junior, intermediate and senior section who also combine into a unique Guitar Orchestra, the only one of its kind in Gloucestershire.

The junior group are mostly of primary school age and playing together does much to build their confidence both as group and solo players.

The intermediate group, who in addition to developing their musical skills, are gaining experience by performing as an ensemble in concerts and festivals. The senior group includes more advanced children and they regularly perform at charity events and local functions.

Each group rehearses alternate Saturdays from 10am-1pm at Ashcroft Church or Deer Park School, Cirencester.

An adult group has also recently been launched, meeting once a month on a Sunday evening at The Vaults in Beeches Road, Cirencester. The group is proving very popular with guitarists of all standards coming from a wide area.

The ensemble holds regular workshops throughout the year, with special guests invited to work with the separate groups, culminating in a showcase. The annual concert is hugely enjoyable.

The group can be booked for events and has a range of well-rehearsed pieces ready to cater for any concert or specific occasion.
