Cotswold Volunteers was launched in Cirencester in 1961 as a means of providing assistance with shopping and gardening for the elderly and frail who did not have any family locally.
The service went from strength to strength and by 1972, two further services were introduced - a befriending service and a volunteer car scheme and the transport side of the charity was further augmented by a Dial-a-Ride service.
