Cotswold Volunteers

Cotswold Volunteers was launched in Cirencester in 1961 as a means of providing assistance with shopping and gardening for the elderly and frail who did not have any family locally.

The service went from strength to strength and by 1972, two further services were introduced - a befriending service and a volunteer car scheme and the transport side of the charity was further augmented by a Dial-a-Ride service.

These services were further extended to Tetbury and Fairford and the charity has continued to grow significantly, introducing a recruitment and placement service for volunteers to organisations across the Cotswolds.

Cotswold Volunteers commemorated its 50th anniversary in 2011 with a celebration at the Corinium Museum in the centre of Cirencester.

Cotswold Volunteers has shops in Fairford, Lechlade, Stow and Faringdon, and the Friends of Cotswold Volunteers supports and raises awareness of the charity and the services it provides.
