Thames Head Singers

The Thames Head Singers, based in the Stroud area, is a mixed voice chamber choir founded in 1980, performing a wide repertoire of music from classical and sacred to traditional and modern.

The group aims to achieve high singing standards and enjoy ourselves at the same time. Every year we perform several concerts and sing choral services at cathedrals.

Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings at Brimscombe School, Stroud, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

The choir’s musical director, Andrew Hopwood, studied voice at the Birmingham Conservatoire and worked for 20 years as a professional singer with Opera North in Leeds and for Scottish Opera. He continues to sing as a soloist and teaches singing in the Gloucestershire area.

The Thames Head Singers are available to hire for weddings and other special occasions and are very happy to perform choral concerts for charitable organisations and churches to help raise money.

The group is currently recruiting first sopranos, tenors and basses with good singing voices and an understanding of music.
